Heading home again. It would be too early to say that Petro is leaving the clinic forever – the guy is going to take some rest following several surgeries. The doctors performed them about two weeks ago, and since then Petro has been under their control.
It was mostly about the reconstructive surgery: they attached to the guy’s maimed foot a whole piece of skin and muscles taken from his ankle. Now the foot previously missing the major part of soft tissues due to an explosive injury, looks much more like a sound living foot, instead of that crippled bit it resembled before. But the main thing is that the doctors started to work on his bones for the first time: now they partially carried out cleansing of a recipient bedding, that is of a place where a newly grown bone is to be transplanted.
One of Petro’s early surgeries. This is where we had to start
We are not going to show Petro’s new leg to you yet: after the latest surgeries the scene looks rather scary. Still, it worth mentioning that instead of gypsum corsets, Ilizarov apparatuses or any other massive structures, Petryk’s leg is now being fixed with just a light-weight gypsum splint, aimed to protect the limb against incidental injuries.
Petro’s chief task for today is to take a rest and restore after numerous surgeries
We are not aiming to get you scared once again by memorizing Petro’s striking story – you can easily read the whole of it following the link. In short, the guy had struck a mine and lost major part of his foot. The state proved to be ineffective as usual: their doctors just give up at once and appointed an amputation. Well, actually, why to try save the guy’s leg if you can just cut it off? Thanks to his friends and volunteers, Petro was literally taken from the surgery table on a day of decisive operation, and passed to the Biotech. Together with you, dear friends, we, the volunteers of People’s Project, managed to raise 70 thousand hryvnias for which the doctors at ilaya clinic carried out the first stage of treatment and saved the foot from inevitable amputation, then added a vast massive of soft tissues to it and so approached the phase of restoration of injured bones. Hence, right now, looking for assistance, we have to address you once more: we have to pay for the rest of bills for the main course of treatment. Comparing to the amount we have already paid, the sum is rather small; it makes about 70 thousand hryvnias. Dear friends, please join the «Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded» project – you can effectively help Petro by pressing the big green button below. Thanks to your donations this young still quite mature guy who had been left to face his misery alone, will get the opportunity to come back to normal life with no limitations. And it is really worth it, is not it?
