August just started, but Biotech experiences an incredible revival. There is a lot of work to do for the wounded ATO defenders. Three defenders came for an examination. Three more went through the first major surgeries. About the next three patients we will tell more below.
Sergiy joined the project just recently, however already completed the first stage of the treatment. During two surgeries doctors of The Ilaya Clinics took samples of Sergiy’s cellular materials, and formed a recipient bed for the further implementation of cellular materials.
The area of the defect was filled with a special medical cement, that protects the bone from pathological processes and allow to wait for further surgeries with minimal consequences. Several months Sergiy will spend at home. His body will get a bit stronger, and biologists will prepare materials for the treatment. Also, surgeries improved the physical condition of the hand. Now Sergiy can move it from side to side. We also collected and paid 150,000 UAH out of almost 400,000 UAH of total amount.
This is Volodymyr, nicknamed Taxist. He is at the project for a few days, and we have already paid 210,000 UAH for his treatment, which is practically a third part of the total cost. The first serious surgery is expected starting on Monday, when he arrives to the clinic for hospitalization.
Volodymyr’s hand has practically no bones
During the project, Volodymyr will have almost all bones of his forearm reconstructed. Only a wreckage and a few peaces near the elbow and the wrist remained from his own bones, and there is nothing can done with the traditional methods. Cellular technology should help him to recover completely.
Petro just came for the next control examination. The difference from what what was before is now drastic.
Was vs is. There is 2 months and 4 plastic surgeries difference in between the photos
The condition of Petro’s leg improved fast, so doctors removed medical clips (which kept transplanted tissues together) a bit earlier, than planned. Soon doctors will get to the second stage of the treatment – restoration of the foot skeleton.
Preparation for the procedure
Now amputation is off the table, but no one can assure the final success. However, Petro’s chances for the recovery increased drastically. For the treatment of Petro we already payed 475,000 UAH. With the next 80,000 UAH we will cover the cost of the first stage of the treatment.
Our dearest friends, we are sincerely thankful to you for your help. Considering the strange position of the Ministry of Health, which completely refuses to finance the treatment of the wounded defenders, the entire financial burden falls on our shoulders. We can only help Ukrainian defenders at the expense of people’s donations, and help the benefactors. If it wasn’t your help all those guys would’ve end up with amputated limbs. Thanks to your generosity, mercy and donations in terms of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project they get a chance to live a normal life. So let’s heal everyone we can, because the end of the project is still far away.
