Extracellular matrix regulates formation of bone and cartilage tissue from stem cells

Recent studies have identified many factors that direct the differentiation of stem cells. At the same time, little is known about how regulated the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and bone morphogenesis are during the development of the skeleton and bone regeneration.
Chinese scientists at the National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials, Sichuan University in his study showed that the extracellular matrix has a crucial effect on the differentiation of MSCs and subsequent bone formation.
Hydroxyapatite-collagen matrix stimulates the differentiation of MSCs to osteoblasts and immediately causes an intramembrane ossification process. If the matrix consists of hydroxyapatite and synthetic hydrogel, it stimulates the differentiation of MSCs into chondrocytes which leads to the formation endochondral bone.
Rising concentrations of mesenchymal stem cells and cells with a robust interaction between the matrix and can be a critical factor influencing these events, probably due to signaling cascades and cellular phenomena that modulate extracellular matrix.
Thus, the results show the key role of extracellular matrix in the management of the differentiation of stem cells and the formation of bone.

Biotechnology has been utilized for a long time in Ukraine. Unfortunately, people tend to think Ukraine does not have access to this access to this and good clinics, advanced technology and professional doctors can only be found abroad. While, the medical system in Ukraine is far from ideal, and we must get rid of this inferiority complex. It is not necessary to travel far to get the expert help of professionals in this field. The Bioenginering Rehabilitation For Wounded project has, for 18 months, proven this. For the wounded soldiers enrolled in the project this advanced technology has been their only hope to avoid disability and physical limitations. The number of men who have been put back on their feet by the project doctors is growing. However, many more wounded military personnel are in need of this specialist medical care, which cannot be provided in Ukraine’s public institutions. So once again we ask people to get involved in raising funds.
