13.04.2016: Volodymyr preparing for primary surgery
17.02.2016: Volodymyr enters first stage of treatment
Volodymyr K, 44, fighter with the 72nd Brigade, injured at Starohnativky (Donetsk region).
Right leg: nonunion fracture of the femur and the formation of a false joint at the hip.
Since operations were performed on the femur, almost a year has passed, but the fracture remains. In addition, there was a dissolution of the femoral joint at the hip, and at the site of the fracture a false joint has formed. In such cases, conventional medicine applies only to hip replacement. However, biotechnology will save and restore the integrity of the joint bones.
Volodymyr, a fighter with the 72nd Brigade, was injured on January 16, 2014 at Starohnativky in the Donetsk region. When changing positions, Volodymyr, due to poor visibility conditions fell into a ravine. He was injured along with three of his colleagues. Volodymyr suffering from concussion and leg injuries was taken to Volnovakha, then to Dnipropetrovsk, and surgery on his hip was performed in Odesa on January 20, 2015. The soldier’s bone was realigned and fixed with screws, but fusion has not occurred, and the fracture site a false joint has formed. In such cases, conventional medicine resorts to arthroplasty.
When volunteer from Odesa, Olga Dombrovskaya learned Volodymyr could still not stand unaided, she advised him to seek assistance from the social project Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded. The project’s doctors are ready to restore the bone of the soldier and return him to normal life.
Volodymyr lives in Lviv, in the Mostyska area, with his wife and 15-year-old son. With them also lives his mother, who due to the stress of events on Maidan and the subsequent war has health problems. Before the war, Volodymyr held multiple jobs: as a teacher, a mechanic and builder. He joined the ATO in September 2014 as a part of the 72nd Brigade, which was based in Starohnativky.
Now Volodymyr just wants to recover. He does not agree to prosthetics, because he knows what problems it may cause.
