Doctors from the medical сenter ilaya have within 3 months from the basic operation on Yuriy have ascertained complete fusion of the introduced cell material and restored the integrity of his humerus. A new, second X-ray of the fighter’s hand was taken in May.
In October, Yuriy was enrolled in the Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded project with a diagnosis of humerus loss up to 12 cm.
– October 8: completed a biopsy sample.
– December 9: gangrenous tissue of his humerus was removed to prevent osteomyelitis.
– February 6: basic surgery on Yuriy’s humerus. Doctors performed surgery for removal of the rotary component, prepared recipient bed and introduced autologous cell-fabric material as a bone block that was fixed with a LCP plate.
Currently, the fighter is recovering at home under the supervision of doctors and orthopedists. A previous X-ray taken after 1.5 months from treatment, showed the integration of cellular material to the bone fragments of humerus.
Last summer Yuriy, a soldier with the Special Forces, was wounded in a firefight with the enemy near Chervonyi Lyman. In a military hospital Yuriy spent several months healing from numerous injuries. Despite this, his shoulder bone defect did not recover with the use of traditional methods.
The coordinators of the Ukrainian nationwide volunteer center The People’s Project helped the soldier receive treatment using cellular technology and provided the necessary funds to the amount of 151,921 UAH.
After spinal injuries Yuriy needs support that will help to develop his legs actively. We plan to send the fighter to a rehabilitation course as part of the Supporting rehabilitation center for wounded project.
We wish a speedy recovery to this Ukrainian defender and a true hero! Yuriy’s medical history can be viewed here.
