After his main surgery, Volodymyr, a fighter of Mechanized Iron Brigade, returned home to recover.
At this stage the soldier had surgery to replace the third, fourth and fifth metatarsal bones of his left foot with bone blocks cultivated from his own cells.
We remind you that on July 11 last year during the shelling of Ukrainian troops near Zelenopillya (Luhansk region), Volodymyr was seriously wounded, then treated for several months in hospitals. There was even the threat of amputation.
Then 19-year-old fighter from Ivano-Frankivsk joined the Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded project earlier this year as a consequences of explosive shrapnel, he was left with wounds to his left foot with a 4-5 cm open wound and fracture, loss of four metatarsal bones along with loss of soft tissue. Such trauma did not allow Volodymyr to walk normally as he could not carry any weight on his foot, but now stem cell technology allow for the restoration of foot function.
Money for Volodymyr’s treatment was raised thanks to your contributions and a charitable contribution from the Electrolux LLS Company.
Many thanks to all who support our defenders at and away from the frontlines! Your support means hope of returning to normal life can become a reality for our wounded soldiers!
