Yuriy is a real ATO hero, who has returned to his native Kirovohrad after the main stage of his arm fracture treatment.
Olena Petrivna, Yuriy’s mother-in-law, took the soldier home. There his recovery will continue, and after a month-and-a-half we will wait for his latest x-ray slides.
We hope his humerus bone fractures will united soon and Yuri will be able to take wieght on his arm and regain more function in his feet, where sensitivity has still not fully returned after his spinal injury.
We wish our hero a speedy recovery surrounded by his family circle and friends who have long been waiting for him to come home!
About Yuriy’s injuries:
Diagnosis: Gunshot wound to shoulder with 12 cm humerus defect (bone loss).
Yuriy’s treatment as part of the “Bioengineering rehabilitation for wounded” began in on October 8, when he underwent a biopsy followed by, on December 9, debridement of the left humerus to reduce/stop osteomyelitis.
Primary surgery on Yuryi’s shoulder bone was carried out on February 6. During surgery doctors performed the removal of rotational component and entered autologous cell-tissue material in the form of a bone block that was fixed using a LCP plate. According to doctors, if necessary, over time Yuriy’s wrist will undergo arthrodesis (fusion of the joint).
