Just recently the clinic was visited by Igor – a young man, who we have been rescuing all together from the severe leg injury. In therms of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project he was saved from a terrible femur defect. The bone matrix connected the fragments of the ruined femur, and the large wound area was filled with a special cellular concentrate made at the biolab. The main building material is components, made out of Igor’s own tissues, with help of unique medical technologies developed in Ukraine.
Three months after the main surgery Igor came for a control examination. The x-rays show, that the bone is actively growing back together. After the period of recovery at home it will be possible to start an active recovery phase. However, Igor is walking on his own legs, with help of the crutches already, and will load the healed leg more and more over time.

The most pleasant part for Igor is that he finally got rid of a giant plaster band, which he was wearing since the surgery. Three months in a hard corset is a doubtful pleasure. Thanks to the impotence of Ukrainian conventional medicine he ended up in a condition like that.
Igor got wounded during the first months of war, when he fought in ranks of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade. The unit, where he served got into a hostile ambush near Shakhtarsk. Only 6 defenders remained alive out of a team 24, which was executed. Igor was lucky to survive, but 2 bullets and a close grenade explosion tore his stomach, and severely beaten his legs. One of the bullets broke his thigh, and knocked out a piece of the bone. Loosing blood, he was crawling all night towards the road, where he was found and taken to the nearest checkpoint, where he was evacuated a.s.a.p. to the hospital.

First, they saved his life. Then, they get to the foot. The injured bone doctors tried to restore, as one of the top officials of the Ministry of Health likes to say, “with a combination of other methods of bone defects treatment”. This means, that into the bone, through its entire length, a giant metal pin was plunged, and tightened with screws. Of course, even for a long time, the bone did not grow. On top of that, it the processes of the decay, and dissolution of a bone tissue started. The leg shortened, and Igor was tortured with a constant pain. The state hospital doctors looked at it, and sent Igor home. He tried to live, as he was before, but he could barely move. And then one of the screws got broken, and it was impossible to walk even with help of crutches. Igor decided to stop the experiment with a state medicine, and turned to the Biotech.

The first examination showed, that not only the screw, but also the pin got broken. If the treatment was postponed even a bit, an osteomyelitis would start, and terrible complications would lead to an amputation. Doctors of The Ilaya Clinics immediately pulled out all the broken metal, took care of the wound, set the leg into the physiological position, eliminated the main threats and sent Igor to rest. When the body recovered a little, they used up the “unproven” method – quickly and effectively restored one of the major bones of the body using cellular technology.
The whole course of Igor’s treatment cost almost 500,000 UAH. This amount will return him to normal life, without the prosthetics or crutches. Of course, state doctors can not offer Igor much more. The Ministry of Health will not yet finance such kind of treatment. That is why the entire financial burden lies with our shoulders.We can only pay for treatment at the expense of people’s donations.
