Dear friends, it’s been a week since we accounted for our activities for the last time, and since then we haven’t wasted a single minute. It’s rather satisfactory that over these seven days our small team managed to achieve the same impressive results as our colleagues volunteers do through engagement of much more numerous human resource. But we sincerely thankful to them for their great work. In our turn, we have bought and sent thousands more medical masks, hundreds of respirators and enormous quantity of other protective equipment as well as other useful gear for our doctors.
As usual, you can find the full report on the recent purchases and transfers in our summarized project report section, so it seems unnecessary to list all these in this publication. The stuff we have already bought but did not send yet, are not put in the full report until we get the invoices signed. So we rely on your understanding regarding this very aspect: due to this circumstance, the actual expenditures are always bigger than total sums mentioned in the report.
Similarly, we have transferred some protective stuff for medics of three Kyiv Centers for First Medical and Sanitary Aid. They will distribute the gear between the units where it is most necessary. The stuff includes gloves, protective coats, liquid soap dispensers etc.
Right at the moment, another batch of protective equipment got to a capital city hospital where based on their local hospice they opened an infection unit for treatment of the most difficult coronavirus patients. We sent them respirators; and while we were searching for these, the doctors themselves found and bought the necessary amount of medical coats at their own expense.
Also, today we transferred another batch of protective gear, namely masks, respirators, gloves and medical visors to our army men. We mean medical units of an airborne brigade and Zhytomyr military hospital. We haven’t got any photo reports from them yet, and we’re expecting to receive signed invoices shortly. Still you can be sure together with you we have managed to protect a few dozens of military doctors. Naturally, this is not enough to cover the needs in full – can anyone fill up the abyss though – still we continue to work in this direction as well.
In addition, today we have met our friends doctor Volodymyr and diver Kostyantyn again: they ran practical testing of a protective mask in one of the base hospitals: we wrote about this initiative a bit earlier. They say the idea is great: doctors are going to use the masks in practice for a few next days, after which they will be ready to give their estimation. Anyway, the first batch of such masks has already been paid for, so to upgrade these under specific conditions will take small amounts of time.
At last, we have found a decent manufacturer of reusable protective medical coats and ordered the first test batch of these from them. Actually, we have little doubt about the quality, still need to see the product with our own eyes. We’re looking forward to purchasing large batches, so need to mobilize all our resources for this quite costly purpose. In view of this, we slightly amended and increased total budget of the entire project.
As always, we process the requests we get from hospitals and gradually, step by step, purchase and send protective gear to doctors. The amount of infected people has been growing day by day, hence, pressure on doctors is increasing respectively. In some places, the situation improves while in other remains upsetting. So dear friends, it is not the right time to give up: we urge you to join in and support this necessary work.
