Friends, we did it!
Honestly, every time we argue – one of the fighters in our Biotech project can be considered among the most difficult. One of the guys is wounded and miserable, but they are threatened by amputation or complete disability. Someone seriously beaten and crushed both spiritually and physically – and treatment requires considerable effort and time. Easy it is definitely not. All of these guys are quite powerless to be helped without our innovative cellular technology. But take the case of Serhiy, among the most serious cases – for his health, project doctors have been fighting for some time. Things are slowly getting better – and today we have excellent news.
Actually Serhiy himself approached the project with an extremely severe thigh wound and shortening of up to 9 cm in the length of his left leg. He was injured in action during the battle for Debaltseve. Bullets ripped through bone and muscles. Public hospital doctors removed a significant portion of the femur and set its remains with a huge metal pin. However, the bone never fused – it’s destruction compounded by osteomyelitis.
At the beginning of the project with Serhiy in the corridors of the clinic even the terrible word “disarticulation” was uttered – he had failed to overcome a very difficult infection and it was proposed the leg had to be removed from the hip joint, Serhiy would be forever be tormented with terrible bust prosthesis with attachment, similar to a toilet seat.

That’s why doctors had to draft a fairly comprehensive treatment plan for Serhiy. Thanks to the efforts of Volodymyr Oksymtsya and his colleagues, Serhiy has finally overcome the infection, and removal of the pin and it slightly lengthened it has brought it in line in terms of physiological terms and the ends of the bone have been prepared for implantation and filled with special medical cement. Meanwhile, in the laboratory, materials for the primary operations: bone matrix, which is produced from Serhiy’s tissues and will soon transplanted at the site of the defect, and the cells themselves that are cultivated and to heal the place of transplantation. Once his body is slightly stronger man after the previous serious interventions – the basic operation will take place.
Meanwhile, we finally completed the fundraising for the treatment of Serhiy. The full amount of the treatment is up 603,000 UAH. All the money we volunteers The People’s Project, raised funds via your donations, the funds were bolstered with the help of Ukrainian-Spanish aid from individual benefactors, through participation of the Foundation Oves and even Serhiy’s former employers, the company «Wiedemann Ukraine.
However, we have to state the sad and obvious truth: Serhiy will not be the last victim of the war and not the last project participant in Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded. Support other wounded Ukrainian fighters.
