Just recently a young member of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project Bogdan went through one more scheduled surgery. He had the recipient bed created, place of the tibia defect cleaned and prepared for further filling with a cellular material, which become a bone of a monolithic strength with a time.
Bogdan suffers from a serious hole defect of a tibia. Bogdan’s bone reminds an eye of a needle, having a giant hole in the middle. He was injured 18 month ago near the Popasna city, when enemy shelled Ukrainian troops with mortars. Since then bone partially fused the defect reminds of itself with a severe pain. Also, inured tibia can break at any moment, without natural bone strength.
Cellular technology can help Bogdan, and this is the aim, which doctors gradually approach to. Bogdan will stay at home for a while, and let the leg rest. There are few more surgeries planned in the nearest future, and a long way to recovery.
For the treatment of Bogdan volunteers of The People’s Project collected and paid almost 380,000 UAH. Treatment is payed exclusively at the expense of people’s donations, because the government does not finance modern methods of recovery of the wounded soldiers.
Dozens of wounded soldiers are sent home from public hospitals, instead of being treated in an every possible ways. It appears that only donators can save them.
