Treatment in terms of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project finished for Eugen 18 month ago. Today he arrived to The Ilaya Clinic for a control examination. The results showed, that a recovery goes according to a plan, and no negative impact of an innovative technology noticed. A state of Eugen’s treated joint improved much. Now he can move his hand much better.
The bone before and after the treatment. The difference is drastic
Before treatment the left hand was jammed. For Eugen it was possible to bend his hand in elbow only within a 15 degree range. It was caused by a significant bone defect. It was a complex 20 cm fracture of the humerus. Such a severe injury Eugen received in summer of 2014, when the Russian aggressor shelled Ukrainian Border Guard boat near Novoazovsk. In hospitals Eugen’s condition was stabilized, but the fractured remained untreated. Conventional medicine was powerless in treatment of this wound.
At the beginning of the project Eugen’s hand was completely inflexible
Volunteers form Odessa Tatiana Poljanska and Victoria Krotova brought Eugen to The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project. In terms of the project several complex surgeries were performed for Eugen. The bone fragments were set to the proper positions. With a help of a traditional osteosynthesis the bone shortening was eliminated. When the bone acquired correct length and position, the defect was treated with help of the cellular technology. In a short time the bone fused perfectly, and elbow started to operate properly again.
The whole treatment process of 200,000 UAH worth was covered at the expense of people’s donations. All this money volunteers of The People’s Project collected as donations in terms of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project. After a recovery Eugen used his chances in full. He got married with his girlfriend, and returned to serve at the Border Guard in Mariupol. And 2 month ago he became a father of a wonderful daughter. The same chance and we want to give every injured defender. That is why we, once again, appeal for help. Since the state does not pay proper attention for the cure of the wounded, we can cure them exclusively at the expense of people’s donations.
