Over past 11 months of 2018, military casualties of the Ukrainian troops fighting in Donbas made 110 servicemen.
This was the information provided by the Public Relations Department of the AFU in response to the request sent by BBC News Ukraine.
This is the data as of the 1st of December, 2018 (the date of the request submission).
Later, the Ukrainian army suffered a number of additional losses. For example, on December 15, an AFU serviceman was killed by an enemy sniper shot, and on December 13 two paratroopers of the 79th Brigade got killed in shelling. Accordingly, total number of casualties in the AFU made over 110 servicemen.
The AFU report also contains the data on non-combat irrecoverable fatalities in the AFU over the past 11 months almost amounted to combat ones making 100 servicemen.
91 more fighters got injured in non-combat situations (”non-combat sanitation casualties”).
The AFU reported the largest amount of ceasefire violations in the Mariupol (2.169 cases of shelling) and Popasna directions (964 cases).
Since the beginning of the Joint Forces Operation, the Ukrainian army took control of three settlements: Pivdenne and Shumy in Donetsk region and the village of Volnyi in Luhansk region, the PR Department officials reported.
Over the year of 2017, combat casualties of the AFU made 198 servicemen.
