To deal with a single pothole is one thing, but to deal with multiple potholes on a highway is quite another. In addition, why try this at all when it is outside your jurisdiction? Frankly, the lawyer-driven project Karatyel were shocked when they received a request regarding a problem with the road surface through the village of Kukolivka (in the Kirovohrad Oblast) and were sent photographs. This is a case when good asphalt road simply does not exist. So the team immediately set to work!
It is striking that this is an area of the international road M-04 Znamianka-Luhansk-Izvaryne. So the team at Karatyel complained to the Kirovohrad regional state administration, which we reported that work needed to be done to eliminate road surface problems at that site, and the asphalt coating could not withstand heavy traffic.
More was to follow. This problem could solved via the state roading agency “Ukravtodor”, which proposed to include repairs to the road through the village. Kukolivka the plan for 2017, according to which the average current repair works would come to a cost of 365 million UAH! Given that the international route must meet international standards, we expect to see correct use of the funds and they are not suddenly “lost” or diverted to go to another project, the team of lawyers took the matter under their control and oversight.
