The project School of Military Divers‘ volunteer instructors aim to improve the training of divers to implement tasks protecting Ukraine’s territorial waters. The first students in the project will be the Mariupol-based squad of coastal protection divers. The instructors have specially selected and developed exercises in order to prepare the divers for problems they may face. One of the exercises is in the use of diving equipment. In the following video you can see the easiest option.
After viewing the video it may give the impression the exercise is quite simple and does not require any special skills. However it is meant to, a professional diver must do it without any problems, but it takes much more effort than it seems.
First, a diver without a mask, almost blindly, must descend to a depth of 5 meters to the bottom of the pool. In looking for breathing equipment, he will do so with poor visibility – it will be in a black spot. Given the divers will be working in the Azov Sea, where visibility is almost zero, it is important to learn how to navigate in poor visibility. Once the student has found the equipment he can start breathing. But this is not so simple. He must have the skills to breathe only through your mouth until he is wearing the mask. It is much more difficult than it seems. Then the diver checks the equipment and puts on his mask, which also requires certain skills. This is a fairly easy task. After practicing basic skills, more complicated exercises will follow.
To launch the project we have almost everything. The most important thing is proactive and professional instructors that are willing to work on enthusiasm. There are students who are eager to raise their skill levels and gain new knowledge. We really need your support. We are ready to do everything we can to promote the project and ask you to get actively involved. Together we will succeed.
