Imagine holding a position when all that separates you from the separatist forces is a small river. In total it is 140 meters from enemy territory in a location 1.5 km from the ruins of Donetsk airport, and the only modern technology you have is one thermal imager that you treat like a baby. Yet you still manage to hold out.
That was the reality for one unit of paratroopers at the front and that is why, after receiving considerable sponsorship, we did not hesitate to deliver the soldiers more urgently needed gear. While some of the most urgent needs have been taken care, there is, as always, still a lot of work.
To say the guys were happy for the support is an understatement. Currently distribution of equipment is unit by unit. Soon we will show you photos from the front of the gear being used in action, rather than sitting idle in storage at the rear – a problem we identified in our recent audit of equipment handed out and one we are working to rectify.
