Most probably you are going to say: “Nope, it cannot be true: the man whose tibia had been totally crushed and entire limb almost torn away, is now standing on his own legs. This is just a prosthesis, isn’t it? You have just made him pose for a photo.”
The answer is NO.
Despite all his horrible traumas, Vitaliy has really come back to normal life: here is the photo that proves he is not only able to stand, but also to walk like a full-bodied person which he really is.
Earlier, the young tank man got severely injured in the war: the tank that Vitaliy was driving was thrown down off a high road bridge. His comrade was killed. Vitaliy stayed alive but his leg was nearly lost: a severe fracture left almost no hope that he would be able to walk ever again.

But everything went in a different way. Whom do we have to thank now? Volodymyr Oksymets and the team of his doctors who sorted out the entire leg anew, got the crushed bones fused up using the revolutionary cell technology in orthopedic surgery, and restored both the muscular structure of the leg and the tendon, for the guy to easily use his renovated leg. We have to thank hundreds of ordinary citizens: when you got to know how serious Vitaliy’s state was and realized that this handsome guy could have become crippled for the rest of his days, you helped us to raise funds and to pay off the costly treatment course.
Admittedly, we, the volunteers at People’s Project, can get the patients of the Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded project treated only at the expense of benevolent contributions, as the state keeps refusing to sponsor such methods of treatment.
