The Skin Bank project continues to form a reserve of cellular material to restore skin after burns. Recently the skin bank received 50 ml of lipoaspiration from the first donor – a young man known only as Andriy.
Lipoaspiration was conducted in sterile conditions at ilaya medical center. Dmitro Zubov, head of its biological laboratory, confirms 200 million of mesenchymal stromal cells can be obtained from the given amount of lipoaspirate. Now the cultivation of material is in progress.
However, to fully provide the skin bank with a healthy balance a few more donors are needed. That’s why the Skin Bank project continues to look for new volunteers. The procedure for sampling adipose tissue is safe and painless. Donors receive a number of benefits including a complete physical examination for free.
