Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded

A breakthrough in Dmytro’s treatment: volunteer project saves the wounded fighter’s arm

Today People’s Project is going to show you something uncommon. We are publishing the video in which the heavily wounded fighter, a participant of the «Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded» project, moves his injured arm. Despite the fact that energetic Dmytro was eager to leave the clinic as soon as possible, we managed to see him in hospital and film our short conversation. The man himself looks happy: for the moment you are reading these lines he has already set himself free from doctors’ attention and headed home to recover. Maybe his arm is still moving with some limitations unlike a normal one, still we have to keep in mind these are just initial steps in his long way to full recovery, as before his arm was entirely immovable.

So, today Dmytro is recuperating from another serious surgery: the whole story of his injury and treatment you can see following the link. The doctors have already taken his cell materials and now growing all necessary parts for further transplantations and restoration of his injured limb. They also have re-assembled Dmytro’s arm in the course of surgery and put the bones into their physiological positions. It is due to this surgery and bone reposition Dmytro’s arm began to move again.

Instead of normal bones attached to one another in a normal joint, Dmytro has a mess like this. The doctors are going to turn this chaos into a normal joint

The man himself is full of optimism: he admits in a year or so he is going to participate if not in professional competitions then go into cycling as much as he can. The Project’s chief surgeon, an orthopedist Volodymyr Oksymets, gives a tiny smile then gets serious again: he believes that if someone is eager to recuperate and restore to the full, then there are no limits for perfection there, so Dmytro possesses all the chances to get back to full life.

In our turn, we have done our best to help Dmytro use his practically last chance for recovery. Together we have accumulated over half a million hryvnias for the man’s treatment. By the way, a major part of this sum Dmytro contributed on his own, at the expense of funds he got as reimbursement for his injury. There was only one participant in this process who chose to stay aside: the state. As usual, the Ministry of health protection officials practically deprived Dmytro of hope for recovery. So we urge you to join the community of contributors as there are more wounded fighters in the «Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded» project who need our support. Unfortunately, we can save them from lifetime maim and lameness at the expense of your donations exclusively. So dear friends, please do not hesitate to help!
