Since the beginning of Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine, hospitals...
Since the beginning of Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine, hospitals and clinics nationwide have provided care for the country’s wounded defenders. Some of the injured are easily treated by standard medical protocols, others are less fortunate – requiring a unique treatment plan and skilled rehabilitation, involving the significant efforts of specialists. Many seriously wounded soldiers could get a chance to lead a fuller life, and sometimes the case rests with logistical capabilities. We make every effort to ensure that Ukraine’s defenders are able to complete a full course of rehabilitation and recovery and forget about the consequences of nightmare challenging wounds.
Back in January we collected a lot of money and bought a new piece of equipment for the Nodus Neurological and Neurosurgical Rehabilitation Research Centre an Armeo Spring device. Purchased as part of the Rehabilitation of Injured with Movement Impairment project, the device is well established in leading hospitals around the world and serves to restore the functionality of the upper limbs. This miraculous device enables movement to be restored to the affected limb in only a few months, while the time it takes for a physiotherapist to deliver similar results takes about a year.
Artur Kireev – is one of the patients using the device. An ATO hero and fighter with the 93rd Brigade, Artur was seriously wounded during a combat mission near Donetsk Airport. He suffered complex injuries of the spine, affecting his legs and arms that threatened the 26-year-old with being confined to a wheelchair, but Artur remained optimistic. Until experts decide, how to put him back on his feet, Artur is working on restoring mobility to his arms using the Armeo Spring.
Artur is sincerely grateful to the volunteers and those who donated for giving him the opportunity to utilize this technology. So, our efforts have not you been in vain, thanks to people’s donations Arthur Kireev has a greater chance to return to a normal life. And be sure he is using this opportunity 100 percent.
Despite the acquisition of the expensive Armeo Spring and striking advances in the treatment of upper limbs, to believe that all problems faced by wounded soldiers are solved is premature. For specific treatment there are still a variety of complex injuries. For many, convetional medicine is powerless to help, these injured defenders need the use of cutting-edge methods, for example biotech rehabilitation.
Of course, these treatments and the subsequent recovery of such patients comes at a cost.
