Recently, the fierce fighting at Donetsk Airport has escalated. Enemy forces launched a massive artillery bombardment as well as tank, mortar and grenade attacks. As a result of the fighting, the air traffic control tower has collapsed. In addition, a wall on the second floor of the new terminal has been partially destroyed. It even came to the point of close combat. Previously Donetsk Airport was labeled as a modern version of the Brest Fortress, now it is called the Ukrainian Stalingrad.
During the course of the Anti Terrorist Operation (ATO) Donetsk Airport transitioned from being a strategically important object into a symbol of Ukrainian resistance, a symbol of hope for victory. Even the enemy admitted to the incredible stamina and ability of the airport’s defenders, nicknaming them "cyborgs". This apt name was immediately picked up on – making "Cyborg" a buzzword of 2014 in Ukraine.
Now after everything the fighters have been through, after all the losses they have suffered and all of their efforts, we must not fail in supporting them or allow the enemy to win. Therefore we are inviting people to join in fundraising to help the airport’s defenders.
About the situation in the Airport
To the list of needs thermal imagers and night vision devices have been added. The project budget increased by UAH 500 000.
After processing the list of needs, the required amount sufficiently exceeded the current project budget. Thus it is increased by UAH 300 000.
The list of needs is very large, thus we increase the budget by UAH 200 000.
