Second front

Saving doctors: help is still needed!

Dear friends, we have finally managed to buy and send a portable cardiograph for the doctors of the Kremenchuk Region Central Hospital. Good friends of ours, local Kremenchuk Association of the ATO veterans and volunteers headed by Mr. Volodymyr Polyakov, have already handed it to medics.

Turned out that this transfer coincided with celebrations of the Medical Workers’ Day, so the very process of transferring the device took place at the festivities, under the close look of the local news outlets’ cameras. Actually, we did not seek any publicity, still for the moment happened to step into the limelight.

But what is really important, the doctors have received their long-awaited device at last. Perhaps a cardiograph is not the main apparatus in covid treatment and diagnostics. But the less the medics share their present cardiograph between the infected and “clear” hospital units, the less is the risk of spreading the contagious virus among the people. This simple move, to split cardiographs between the units, will enhance the medical staff’s performance and eventually lead to greater numbers of recoveries. So let the new device serve them well and benefit their activities.

We bought the cardiograph at the expense of the Second Front project; partially, its cost was covered by means of your contributions into the initiative, while another part of the sum was “borrowed” from other projects. By the way, we have to thank the Biomed company for their wonderful discounts and kind relations: this company used to support our project’s medical purchases before as well.

Meanwhile, the situation remains quite urgent as the infection is spreading over Ukraine and the entire globe. Hence, it would be rather untimely to close the project up. Hospitals keep sending us their new requests. It was quite interesting to watch a video story from the very epicentre of this invisible war: Radio Liberty’s team has published an exciting footage describing routine medics’ work at theInfectious Diseases Unit of the metropolitan Clinical Hospital #9. It was nice to see that our efforts didn’t go in vain as the prevailing majority of their “combat” doctors are wearing the remodelled snorkeling masks we sent them! Chapeau to Mr. Kostyantyn Myrhorodskyi whose wise head found the way to adapt the gear to the present situation and launch the process of their re-modelling. This proved truly useful!

Lately, we have sent another batch of PPE to Mykolayiv hospitals. Doctors at a number of intensive care units have requested more protective face masks. At the moment, we are processing a number of new requests sent by Kremenchuk medics. Kiyv Hospice staff applied for more protective masks as well. This only means, dear friends, that we have to mobilize all our present resources once again, and we desperately need your affordable assistance. It is no time to relax as medics need our support.
