The multinational Sea Breeze 2019 maritime exercises that involved participants from Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, UK and, naturally, Ukraine. The coaches of the School of Military Divers volunteer project have joined their colleagues seamen as well. We expect to learn about their new experience and other interesting stuff they exchanged with their foreign colleagues when the guys are back home. But at the moment, when the exercises are still on, we’re going to tell you about the informal side of this event.
The diving phase of the drills has been completed on last Friday, July5th. Since then, the divers from various countries had the opportunity and time to communicate and talk to one another, exchange some details regarding their professional activities, demonstrate their up-to-date equipment (this point does not apply to our Ukrainian divers though) and make friends with their mates. Obviously, neither official report on this international event is able of revealing these seemingly intimidating undersea warriors’ truly wonderful and cheerful personalities! That is why our coaches from the School of Military Divers sent us an exclusive video showing a friendly competition between the divers. Well, let’s just watch it!
National teams from the USA, Lithuania, Georgia, UK, Romania and Ukraine included their diving units’ most skilled professionals: in general, the competition resembled a team-building event among divers! The guys played tug-of-war, ran a distance wearing their flippers, competed in a sack race, carrying bottles filled with water and running in full diving equipment, the legendary “triple screwer” which is exceptionally heavy-weight!One of our volunteer coaches, Maxym Yakymov, acted as a referee responsible for recording of the results and keeping track of the time. Quite traditionally, it was friendship that became a winner of the event; still we need to humbly mention that the Ukrainian team was the first in the relay race, but eventually, who cares about the arithmetics?
Dear friends, may we remind you that right at the moment, within the School of Military Divers project, we are raising funds to buy up-to-date equipment for the divers from our Naval Aviation. We described their needs in details here. Come join in!
