Another tragedy has just occurred in the forefront. According to today’s reports, a couple of days ago a Russian sniper killed another Ukrainian military. The name of the fallen warrior is Oleksiy Vlodarskyi, callsign Skif; he served with the Aidar battalion. The fatal bullet hit him near the village of Krymske, Luhansk region. “I’m not sure what to say and how to describe my inner pain. Still I cannot remain silent. Today we have lost our brother in arms, the guy who always seemed tireless and cheerful, Lyosha, the callsign Skif. The sniper shot stopped the life of my little brother. I’m crying and don’t know what I’m going to do now. Lyoshka, our kid. My heart is totally broken by this irreplaceable loss and in unspeakable pain. Eternal glory to the Hero,” – these were the words Serhiy Yurchenko, the fallen warrior’s comrade wrote. Oleksiy Volodarskyi was born on the 15th of December, 1981, in Zhytomyr region. He is survived by his brother and sister.
We repeatedly accentuate the obvious thing: the war is on, despite the fact it disappeared from the first pages of newspapers and TV screens. Russian killers continue to hunt our defenders, and the very format the war acquired for the moment, – positional duels – makes a perfect room to action for enemy snipers.
Servicemen of the sniper unit of the 17th Tank Brigade
In our turn, we try to do our best in supporting Ukrainian snipers. In particular, in view of the constant presence of the enemy snipers in the forefront, we have been trying to equip our sharpshooters involved in counter-sniper activities. Within the corresponding I Am Sniper project, People’s Project volunteer center has been relentlessly buying necessary gear for Ukrainian sniper teams. Lately, we have bought certain amount of cases and other necessities for fighters of the sniper unit of the 17th Tank Brigade. These decent but modest guys never misuse our backing and usually purchase the necessary gear at their own expense. The state has not always been here to give a hand: normally, it provides the guys with the ordinary “weapon-ammo” kits, still snipers do need lots of additional gear like weather stations, up-to-date optics, and other equipment effective for successful snipering.
In addition, lately there has been an increase in incidents when Russian snipers hunt our shooters engaged in counter-sniper fighting, and blind them using special counter-sniper laser complexes banned by international conventions. This is rather a big problem which we are going to relentlessly highlight. At present, we are raising funds to purchase four more scopes based on digital signal filtration system. Even if a laser ray hits the scope, it will damage the optics alone, leaving the sniper’s eyesight intact.
So, dear friends, we are seeking your assistance once again. The war is still on, so please accede to our joint efforts and go participate in supporting and upgrading the Ukrainian army as only when standing together we can provide our fighters with all the gear they need. For the money raised within the I Am Sniper project we buy the equipment that is able of saving our guy’s lives as well as helps them to effectively perform their customary job, eliminating occupiers and liberating our homeland from the invaders. Dear friends, please join in: unless we do this, who else will?
