We have already got used to see Mr Serhiy either in his bed or wearing some weird stretching: his severely injured leg did not give the man the least chance to move on his own. By contrast, this time Mr Serhiy visited the clinic on his own feet: on three months after the decisive surgery within the «Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded» project, the man finally did it. Although still supported by his crutches, the man has started to load his restored leg. All this has become possible thanks to his self-confidence, the project’s doctors’ skills and to your benevolent contributions.
This time the whole of his family visited the clinic
Three years passed since the moment Mr Serhiy had got wounded. A close explosion injured his leg severely: a piece of the hip bone and tissues had been torn off his body. Since then the doctors of the conventional medicine tried to restore the leg using traditional methods, still as you can see, all in vain: the bone failed to fuse up and the developing osteomyelitis lead to considerable growth of both the damaged area and the defect in general. The whole frightening story of Mr Serhiy’s injury can be read following the link.
This is how Mr Serhiy’s bone looked like at the beginning of treatment within the Project
Finally, it was the Biotech that proved effective; moreover, it happened when the threat of amputation grew more than real. The doctors of the Project took out the cell materials and grew up the necessary fragments of the bone; then they got the injured area cleaned and the infections treated, and later they got the newly grown bone implanted into its proper place.
This is how it looks now. The transplanted fragment has started to add fresh bone tissue actively
The latest check-up testified that the bone fragment started to add more fresh bone tissue. This suggests soon the bone is going to grow up into a monolith which will keep serving to Mr Serhiy for many decades on.
The whole course of treatment has cost us over 600 thousand hryvnias. The state stayed off the process as usual: the volunteers at People’s Project had to raise the whole amount at the expense of benevolent donations solely. And we finally did it! Mr Serhiy does not need either to limp on a clumsy prosthesis or stay chained to his bed: he has started to walk on his own two legs. Now our task is to help the rest of the soldiers: the Project is not going to end with Mr Serhiy’s recuperation as more wounded fighters still need our assistance. And dear friends, your contributions into the «Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded» project are always welcome: the main thing about all this is your compassion brings back hope to our fighters and helps them to return to full life without any injures or limitations.
