As of yesterday to the “Biotech” initiative was added a new fighter. Dmytro, and it couldn’t come son enough for him. Youthful and sporty, he came to the clinic with an injured arm. At the front early last year, he had to serve in the infamous industrial zone near Avdiivka. In one of the most powerful enemy shelling attacks Dmytro was hit by a few enemy bullets. Severely wounded legs, arm and stomach left Dmytro life teetering on the brink. The military and civil hospitals saved Dmytro’s life. However methods to restore elbow, doctors in state hospitals could not provide.
Now he has almost no ability to bend his elbow, doctors shrug and offer two options. To not touch, and leave his arm hanging helpless as is, or set an articular endoprosthesis in place. Well, this is an option – just one Dmytro totally disagrees with.
The state of the bone in Dymtro’s elbow
While prosthesis of the joint is a good option, it significantly limits the range of motion possible and the arm’s workload. An active sportsman, Dmytro wants to continue normal life and have nothing in the way.
And you can evaluate the injury in different projections
So here it will be useful to use the cell technology of the project Bioengineering Rehabilitaion for Wounded. Experts plan to take over this project with designer bone fragments, fitted in the correct position, and those fragments that do not form enough for a normal joint, cultivate the man’s own cells. Such a method gives the best chance for a full recovery.
Dmytro is in fact 45. Sport – his main passion, the man has cycled all his life and plans to do so in the future. He sacrficed this for Ukraine’s peace, so donations for his treatment is a great way to show gratitude. Thus, it is a significant amount, the price is almost half a million UAH. And just imagine – if each Ukrainian donated to the project Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded just one hryvnia, we could return to a normal life somewhere in the vicinity of 80 fighters, who have given up everything. Surely they deserve help?
