The participant of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project Oleg started an additional stage of a treatment. After the cell technology helped to fix a complex fracture, and bone defect is partially fixed, leg will be stretched for a little more with traditional methods. Just recently another complex surgery been conducted for Oleg, during which the fixating plate removed, bone intentionally broken, and an external fixating apparatus installed. The next 2 months Oleg will spend at home, because stretching process does not require constant medical supervision. Two months later, during the next control examination, doctors will assess the results.
Still a little shortened, but own and complete. Oleg loads newly created bone in a usual way
Oleg was injured in Ilovaisk in August of 2014. Enemy sniper’s bullet hit the leg, and ruined huge fragment of a bone. Oleg been treated for some time at the state hospitals, and even went for a treatment to Lithuania. Numerous surgeries and even an attempt to transplant a piece of his own bone were in vain. Transplanted piece does not grown back even in 9 months.
Oleg’s horror before the treatment in terms of The Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded Project
When Oleg joined the project the bone defect counted 14 centimeters. During treatment the experts of The Ilaya Clinic prepared the place of a defect for further procedures. They selected and cultured cellular material, which later filled a place of a defect. In a short time the bone has fused. In case of such a major defect it was extremely difficult to predict, how much of the defect it would be possible to restore. At the end of a recovery it was obvious, that 10 cm were restored with a use of cellular technology, and 4 more cm will be stretched with help of traditional methods.
The first hours after the surgery. Once the fresh wounds heel the bone stretch process begin
Entire treatment course of Oleg, as well as any another patient of The Biotech, we can pay only at the expense of people’s donations. Government does not finance such kind of a treatment. Such injuries can not be cured at state hospitals. Therefore seriously wounded soldiers find themselves face to face with the prospect of lifelong injuries or amputations. We can not leave them to their fate. We urge you to not stay aside. Your every donated dollar increases chances to rescue Ukrainian defender.
