Wounded “Chernihiv” Battalion volunteer Oleksiy is recovering from the main operation of his treatment as part of the project Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded. Two weeks ago, on July 27, doctors at iLaya Medical Company conducted surgery on the fighter’s femur. At the site of the injury 3D-gel chips of osteoplastic material and autologous stem cells were introduced and fixed with metal plates. All funds for the treatment of Oleksiy were crowdfunded by The People’s Project through donations. Now the soldier has returned home to rest and rejuvenate.
In six weeks, Oleksiy will return to the clinic for a control X-ray. We hope and trust the results will be positive.
Oleksiy was wounded near the village of Stanytsa in the Luhansk region on February 23 2015. During a reconnaissance mission with fellow soldiers he hit a mine and received numerous shrapnel wounds to his back, legs and arms.
For more than a year he was treated with traditional methods, but because of improper placement of fragments, his leg bones began to coalesce incorrectly. This prevented the soldier from moving freely threatened to move freely and even greater problems in the future.
Winter 2016 Alex was adopted in a social project “Biotech-rehabilitation wounded” with the diagnosis wrong consolidate fracture of the left femur varus deformity and shortening femur 2 cm, improper consolidation of the fracture right tibia varus deformity of more than 20 degrees.
During the first phase of treatment doctors fixed the deformity of the right tibia bone, affixed a metal plate and took a cellular material to restore the left femur. Two control X-ray examinations showed complete recovery of the leg, and doctors moved on to the second phase of treatment.
Thanks to the skills of doctors, advanced cellular technology and the generous support of people, Oleksiy again has an opportunity to confidently stand and return to a life without physical limitations. The project involves injuries for which cell technology represents the only chance for recovery. Most of them came to us after long and exhausting treatment in public hospitals using traditional methods that yielded no results. Since the state, through legislative and other restrictions does not support biotechnology in the treatment of wounded defenders, their only hope lies in the support of people.
Earlier, The People’s Project reported the incredible restoration of the bone in a 19-year-old’s leg. Recently doctors formed new bone in a wounded soldier from the “Donbas” Battalion.
