Ukrainian efforts to “squeeze out” the Russian occupiers of gas platforms near Zmiinyi (Snake or Serpent) Island are proving difficult.
More than five Ukrainian gas producing rigs that belonged to “Chornomornaftohaz” aroung the Black Sea island close to the Romanian coast are currently under tight Russian security Russia. In the following video (in Ukrainian) you can see one of the oldest boats of what is left of the Ukrainian Black Sea Fleet – the missile boat “Shuya”. However, the Russian occupier is thus far blocking the ship from getting near the Ukrainian gas producing platforms. The video and photos were provided to us by Sergeant First Class, Mykola Parkhomenko.
Is Ukraine’s Government going to attempt to take these paltforms? This is a rhetorical question.
However, the volunteers of The People’s Project together with concerned citizens refuse to wait until the state recovers from the cynical theft of the rigs and most of it naval fleet . The Ukrainian fleet needs immediate improvement!
In the occupied Crimea, we lost almost everything: The Naval Academy, State Aquarium, ships, the latest diving equipment – all remain in the hands of the Russian invaders. The situation must be corrected. And immediately, because the enemy does not allow us to delay.
So we initiated the project School of Military Divers, for which training has already begun. Our goal is to modernize the training system for military divers and provide them with much-needed equipment and facilities. After all, they are Ukraine’s protection from attacks from sea.
