Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded

Fighters go through different stages of their treatment

Fighter with the 72nd Brigade Andriy is recovering from his main operations and preparing for discharge. On March 25 he underwent major surgery. At the site of his tibial defect a transplant of osteo-progenitor material based on autologous stem cells in the form of bone chips was conducted. In six months Andriy will undergo a routine control X-ray examination to determine progress.

Now Andriy needs to focus on regaining his strength. So we wish him a quick recovery, because our goal is to have him on his feet and return to a healthy life as soon as possible.
We look forward to the next results.

Andriy B leg

In January 2016 Andriy joined the Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded project. The same month, ilaya Medical Company doctors performed sampling of cellular material and fitted an apparatus for the purpose of realigning the axis of the tibia. Before the start of treatment in our project Andriy had spent six months being treated in hospitals, however biotechnology provided the only chance for the fighter to stand unaided.
All costs of Andriy’s treatment, amounting to 354,064 UAH was collected by The People’s Project via donations from caring people. We sincerely thank everyone who helped collect the money.
Patients and visitors to the ilaya Medical Center have also contributed, recently the project counted an additional 10,000 UAH, donated directly to the hospital for treatment of wounded soldiers from the ATO zone.

Money box-2

Employees at ilaya opened the collection box of the Bioengineering Rehabilitation for Wounded project which is placed at the reception and counted the money collected in recent months. The amount of collected funds during this period was 10,075.50 UAH.

The funds were credited to the account of 40-year-old Andriy Bortniychuk, a 30th Brigade fighter and new enrollment in the project, and one who requires urgent assistance. Andriy was shot in the summer of 2014 near Savur-Mohyla and appealed for help after a year-and-a-half with a tibia fracture unsuccessfully treated in clinics and hospitals. As part of his treatment in the project, doctors at ilaya have already begun to work – now they are treating inflammation in his foot, and then will resume restoration of the tibia using cellular technology.
We thank all those who contributed to fundraising, because without you our help he could have become an invalid.
