Four months after treatment of his clavicle defect using stem cell technology, ATO hero Mykhailo is playing sport and performing other tasks in Dnipropetrovsk and even getting ready to depart to the east!
His energy. stamina and character are admirable. Everyone who is lucky to know him personally says the same.
His treatment began on November 11, when he underwent a cellular material sampling procedure for further cultivation in the bio laboratory of the ilaya Medical Center. On December 12 the primary surgery was performed. The shattered part of the bone was replaced with autologous cellular material that was fixed in place using LCP plates.
Mykhailo suffered from the consequences of a gunshot wound to the right shoulder girdle causing a nonunion fracture of the right clavicle bone with defect of 5 cm. This defect could not be restored using traditional methods of treatment, and the nonunion fracture rendered his hand devoid of basic function. The soldier could not even hold a cup in this hand.
However, his brothers in arms learned of the Bioengineering rehabilitation for wounded project and advised Mykhailo to seek the help of the doctors from ilaya.
Some 1.5 months after the main phase of Mykhailo’s treatment was complete, doctors observed active restoration of bone tissue at the site of the defect. It could be clearly seen in an X-ray. Now Mykhailo has started actively exercising, sometimes even against the advice of his doctor. However, his doctor, with reluctance, fully understands his behavior!
