In the past three weeks, Facebook newsfeeds have been full of reports about successful artillery strikes on enemy positions at Donetsk Airport. Activist Tetyana Rychkova, who has been in close contact with troops at the airport, wrote: “The 79 Airmobile Brigade has a modern UAV. The People’s UAV executed combat missions well, followed the movement of enemy vehicles and manpower, greaty helped in performing reconnaissance functions, saving soldiers’ lives on the frontline. It can’t have done so unscathed. Our UAV was wounded in battle, but successfully returned to base.
In fact, it did what this type of machine should do – to minimize the risk of loss of life while collecting the maximum possible amount of information.
